With Communism for Kids, there is finally an English version of Bini Adamczak’s Kommunismus. Kleine Geschichte wie endlich alles anders wird. Kudos to MIT Press for commissioning Jacob Blumenfeld’s and Sophie Lewis’ translation of this superb little book, widely praised and available in German since 2004. Expect a fresh take on the hopes and everyday struggles arising around the idea of non-authoritarian communism and the pitfalls for its implementation. What sounds like a children’s book (apparently in particular to some myopic commentators on the conservative side) is actually an inspiring and entertaining read for “all who desire a better world”, as MIT Press puts it. Plus, Fredric Jameson likes it. Find it at https://mitpress.mit.edu/books/communism-kids.
