Reading heavily industrialized landscapes through a socio-territorial lens, which parallels emerge between two regions subject to neoextractivist logics and politics of socio-ecological transformation in Mexico and Germany? During my time as senior visiting scholar at Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City, I co-hosted a 3-day comparative research seminar with Monika Streule and gave a talk in the Seminario de Antropología Ambiental series at the Departmento de Ciencias Sociales y Políticas to ponder these questions. On Macrh 25, 2026 I also had the opportunity to teach a creative writing workshop for undergraduate design students as part of Monika Streule’s Etnografía para el diseño course at IBERO.
