Watts follows Mexico City’s piped water from the dams of the Cutzamala system to the domestic tap, then down the drain as it is converted to sewage and pumped towards the agricultural region of Tula, Hidalgo. Though dating from late 2015, this rich and well-written article is still worth reading as it highlights the enormous challenges Mexico City is facing with respect to water, and the social contestations over current regimes of public water policy. A Spanish translation is also available.
